Projects (in development & production)

The original intent of this network was to let filmmakers know about other filmmakers, including what skills and services they can provide to individual projects; hence the personal profile pages. It immediately became apparent, however, that an equivalent was needed for the projects themselves, and this page is meant to provide that service. This is the repository for information on all projects our members have in development–anywhere from concept through screenplay and production to post and distribution–that allows other members to see where things are and volunteer to get involved.

Primarily because only the administrator can edit this page, it’s not a perfect system at present. But hopefully we’ll be able to make it more user-friendly in the future (suggestions are welcome!). Here’s how it works for now: When you have a new project that you’d like to publicize email the administrator (an account accessible to a few of us who designed this site) with a short 100-200 word description of the project: an elevator pitch with a description of what kind of participation or feedback you’re looking for. Include any websites or blogs and the name of the contact person for the project. We’ll then post that on this page, verbatim (barring potty language, etc.) with all those links, including one to the contact person’s profile, where you can take more room to describe the project in detail. And then email updates to the administrator any time you have major events, such as when you cast, go into production, wrap the shoot, or premiere. Since production/release dates are so fickle, projects will be listed alphabetically rather than chronologically. After the initial distribution period for a project we’ll go ahead and remove the listing here.

So although all that will have to go through an administrator, at least for now, the blog posts on the homepage of the network do not. Feel free to write a blog post there whenever you like. And, as mentioned, you can give extensive information or include script excerpts or similar lengthy things on the profile page of the contact person; that way this page remains navigable.

And lastly, you don’t to be in need of cast or crew to list a project. Everyone wants to know what everyone else is working on no matter the project’s needs.

BOOK OF MORMON PROJECT -

**

SAINTS – Saints is a feature film and transmedia property that tells the story of the sexual and spiritual coming-of-age of a young Mormon girl in New York City; the transmedia material will branch out to examine the lives of the people–both Mormon and, hopefully, non-Mormon–in her community. Currently in development/preproduction, with the film scheduled to shoot in late August and early September. Starring Erin Margaret Colby; co-written by her and director Randy Astle, the contact person for the project. One goal is to help introduce the modern digital DIY marketing-distribution mentality to the LDS community, as we’re looking for a multiplatform release after the LDS Film Festival early next year.

Interested in cast and crew based in New York City, especially a sound recordist, and postproduction crew anywhere. We’ll also need a LOT of help with the marketing, distribution, and merchandizing from people anywhere, especially the East Coast and Mormon Corridor of Idaho/Utah/Arizona. This publicity work actually promises to be one of the most fun aspects of the whole process.
